The Black Leadership Advisory Council (BLAC) collaborates to benefit the Black communities in San Antonio.
The Black Leadership Advisory Council (BLAC) began when four Black leaders in the city identified a need to unify the Black communities in San Antonio. They recognized that the communities needed a point of connection to bring together the people, families, and businesses in increase and stabilize their access to resources and one another.
Over 200 individuals in the Black communities were invited to offer insight about their experiences in San Antonio in order to identify and prioritize the areas of concern of the community. Through their collaboration, they agreed to focus on the following areas:
The BLAC is committed to connecting San Antonio's Black communities to resources and opportunities within the city, as well as facilitating discussions about and communicating the needs of San Antonio's Black communities to local and state government, corporate and social allies, and supporters in order to edify black citizens and families, drive constructive action within those communities, and influence the local and state policies that impact the Black residents of San Antonio.
Our mission is to improve the quality of the Black communities' experience in San Antonio.
Our vision is for San Antonio's Black communities to be connected and equitably supported within the City.
Our core values are commitment, deference, humility, patience, and prudence.
